About me

Welcome to Other Grapes — a personal project born out of two decades of travel, curiosity, and a quiet obsession with wines that don’t always make the headlines.

Hi, I’m Nacho Vega, a wine enthusiast from Spain. For more than two decades, I’ve explored vineyards across continents, spoken with passionate winemakers, and opened bottles that have surprised, puzzled, and delighted me. I’m not a sommelier, nor do I claim to be an expert in oenology. What I bring instead is experience — not behind a tasting counter, but at tables, in kitchens, and on hillsides: listening, sipping, and learning.

This site isn’t about chasing prestige or collecting labels. It’s about sharing what I’ve found in the margins. That might be a forgotten grape rescued from a single hillside, an honest, low-intervention wine with a compelling story, or even a very famous variety that has been crafted in a way that defies the commercial mainstream and speaks with the raw, authentic voice of its unique terroir.

Sometimes these wines are affordable; sometimes they’re not. But price has never been the point.

I hope what you find here inspires you to look beyond the obvious and pour something different into your glass.
